The Silver Creek & Stephenson Railroad in Freeport, Illinois is offering the opportunity for individuals to actually run and fire (under supervision) our 1912 built standard gauge coal burning 36 ton Heisler steam locomotive over 1.72 miles of ex-Milwaukee Road right of way. 3 of 8 slots are still available and cost $100 to run and $25 to fire. Each run will last about 35-40 minutes. After the last run the train will be reduced and we will take the Heisler and our 1889 built wooden caboose on line for a photographer's special, stopping for photos and runbys.
