As part of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society’s fundraiser for the tender roller bearing project, the society is auctioning off both left and right side replica Lima Locomotive builder’s plates which have adorned the engine since 2006.
The builders plates were on the locomotive for its first passenger trips in sixteen years, TrainFestival 2009, and fall color trips with Pere Marquette no. 1225.
In addition to the characteristic Lima plates, replica trust plates and several American flags that have been flown on the engine throughout the 2009 season are also being auctioned off. All of them are "seasoned" with weathering from the 765 and the auction for the builder's plate includes a cab ride!

The "upgrade" to the 765 will see roller bearing trucks under the locomotive tender. In addition to this, temperature monitors are being mounted to the engine truck's solid bearings and in the future will be installed on the driving boxes of the locomotive.
