Hello, all.

The Northwestern Pacific RR Historical Society has started the restoration of NWP 605. This baggage car was built by the San Francisco & North Pacific RR, a predecessor to the NWP, in 1892. We have two sets of door rollers, and need two more sets. Both of the existing sets have ST L & SF RY CO cast into them. We would like to find two other sets to match.

We think the SF&NP searched for available sets to avoid the cost of pattern making for a "one-off" car, and the SF&SL had some extras for sale.

If none show up, just run one set down to Longmont and see what making a few new examples will cost.

If it too expensive to recast, it doesn't look too complicated to machine the front piece and rear piece and then weld-in any cross pieces. After it is fabricated, have it sand blasted with an aggressive grit to rough it up. To recreate the lettering, make some rubber molds of the lettering, cast them with resin or low temp metal, and glue them onto the metal. After it is painted no one will know the difference other then you.
