We are starting to restore long lost C&S caboose 1008. She was scraped in the 1940's in Leadville, CO and all metal parts were removed and the wooden body used as a shed. We have been able to locate many of the parts to replace those which are missing but we are still looking for several pieces vital to the success of the project. People have told us that the possibility of locating an 8"X 8" Westinghouse brake cylinder and resevoir (KC) is really unlikely as these were unique to very light cars (1008 is a 4 wheel "Bobber"). We have seen one on C&S # 1006 at Silver Plume, CO and taken measurements to fabricate if necessary but we hope that a reader of RPN may know of one hidden away somewhere that might be available. We are also interested in any information about this car following her scraping and how she got from Colorado to California. Thanks |

Just a question, but is there more info on this project? I'm involved in a similar project, although it involves a depot designed by H.H Richardson, but this seems like an interesting project |
