The Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge Historical Society will hold its 2012 annual conference June 21-24. For the first time the annual conference is being held west of the Sierras. It will be based at the SPCRR at Ardenwood Historic Farm in Newark, California. More information can be found at the Society's website. Go to the "Activities" page and there is a link to a PDF with further information. The meeting's title is "S.P. Narrow Gauge -West of the Sierras" Plans are in hand for presentations not only about the Owens Valley operation , but also various SP related narrow gauge operations in California. Arrangements have been made for a steam train ride and shop tour at Roaring Camp on the Saturday as well as a visit to Jim Vail's model railroad also on the Saturday. To end the conference on Sunday there is a train ride on the Niles Canyon Railroad of PLA. Included in the train will be Yosemite Valley #330. And STEAM will pull the train!! |
