For narrow gauge caboose (C&S - 1008) restoration project - we are looking for (4) 26" dia wheels, (2) axels and (4) 3-3/4 x 7 brasses and matching wedges to fit. These need to be able to pass FRA inspection and have some running time left but do not have to be new. Thanks for your help - Richard Farmer |

It may be well worth your while to make new ones. I think that diameter wheel is standard for either transit or industrial use. Most old stuff is pretty well worn beyond much useful life any more. dave |

I have one good 4"x 7" "mulie" bearing to make a pattern from if you need it. and I also have drawings (that I drew, not perfect I'm sure) for the "mulie" type wedge to go with it. You can reuse the later AAR 3+3/4" x 7" bearing and wedge by melting off the babbit from the bearing and then machining the bearing to a true 4"radius (simple setup and you'd be done in 2 hrs max), then reappply the babbit at the proper 4" radius to the correct thickness. That is the route I would take if no really simple option presents its self. The 3+3/4x7" bearings and wedges can still be bought, if you can find them over seas. |
