SPCRR (www.spcrr.org) is looking for a couple of MCB "B" (4" x 8 1/4") brasses and a full set of 8 wedges for a set of 3' gauge shop trucks. (yes, the steel wedges are missing, the brasses are present???)

We are good with worn out, but functional parts. The trucks are from a West Side Lumber Co log car, pieced together by WSLC from used parts from a variety of California narrow gauge lines. We are not restoring the log car... it is way too far gone, and better cars are potentially available, but instead want to use these trucks under a body while awaiting restoration.

As these are shop trucks, cost is an issue...

Randy, you can hog out the basic shape of the wedges from a hunk of brass or iron in the mill and for shop trucks or low impact service it will be fine. Probably even lignum vitae would work..........the tolerances for something like this are pretty friendly, not too small and within 100 thousandths or so too big will do you fine. Great early apprentice type project.

We have another set of trucks running (or setting) on oak blocks. Those are more traditional California trucks which use a bearing without a wedge. That car has been moved about a mile on its oak blocks over 15 years, and will soon make a trip to the new building.

Since these trucks use what is in theory I have hopes of finding the parts...
