Greenville is a reasonably intact heavyweight sleeper that has been stored for many years, the last 8 to 10 on the Lancaster & Chester in Lancaster SC where it was brought in by truck. It probably has not moved on its own wheels for 30 years or more. It has Hyatt sealed bearing trucks and like most cars its age has asbestos. L&C acquired it from the Iowa Pacific bankruptcy trustee. This car will be given free to anyone who wants it, and can put up a $10,000 cash bond to be forfeited if the car is not removed from our property by 12/31/22 and refunded if it is. We will accept other reasonable assurances that the car will be removed. While the car has its bunks, sinks, fixtures etc. it needs a tremendous amount of work to be made presentable. Call me at 865-679-8471 for further information. The car will be scrapped if we do not have disposition arranged for by the end of February. Pete Claussen |

You should really consider giving a prospective purchaser more than two weeks in the middle of the holiday season to try to arrange for the shipment of a passenger car. I'm trying to move a boxcar and caboose over the road and although I started talking with the crane company and truckers a couple of weeks ago, we won't have all the pieces in place and be ready to move them before the end of January. This stuff takes time to arrange. |
