Does anyone know who makes a new or rebuilt Cat C15 or C18 HEP generator? |

We've been using Globe Connect, but quite frankly we have not been happy with their service. For rebuilding, the genset package gets shipped to their facility and they split apart the generator from the engine. The engine then gets sent to HO Penn and the generator usually gets sent to Sherwood or another qualified electrical rotating equipment rebuilder. https://www.globeconnectllc.com/head-end-power-diesel-parts-pennsylvania/ Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with any other vendors who can handle this work. |

After you split the engine and alternator for individual repair/overhaul, pay very close attention to making sure you have them properly aligned when you mate them together afterwards. Misalignment can materially shorten the life of the bearing in the alternator. Also for rail service, you should make have a base that is rigid enough not flex during operation. I've seen some setups that just weren't beefy enough to resist some flexing. Been there and have multiple tee-shirts, between commuter, Amtrak and gen-set repair. G.F.Payne B'more |
