$10K minimum, and located in VA, I'll bet these will sell. |

Surprisingly, still no bids, bidding ends tomorrow. Or are the bid increments hidden on this site? Edit:Looks like the bidding was extended another week. |

The_Pine29 wrote: Looks like starting Price is $10K with a Bidding Increment of $250 Now the starting price has been lowered to $5K for the black unit, still with bid increments of $250. Unless there is some hidden reserve price, I'm at a loss to understand why these haven't had interest. A few years back some older GE center-cabs sold for around $10K when the old AC&F plant closed. Is there some issue with these units that I am not aware of? Edit: There is a hidden reserve price, as someone bid $5K on the black unit and it says "reserve not met." That's really annoying. |

Some of these big GE's have reduction gearing for the traction motors, limiting their speed when towed to under 15 mph... they likely lack alignment control couplers. This makes it difficult to move them on their own wheels. At 110 tons they are too heavy for easy truck transport. Couplers can be mitigated by wielding in blocks for transport, traction motors can have their pinions removed, but you are still at the mercy of the railroad. It is likely these will cost substantially more to move than to acquire. |

Both now say: "This item is no longer available. It has either sold or has been withdrawn." We may never find out. |
