Repost from a Facebook post: Quote: The Board of Directors of Chehalis Centralia Railroad in Chehalis Washington has voted to surplus this Vulcan locomotive. There was initial discussion of scraping it but he railfans among us will not let that happen. As with almost every offering on this page, the cost of relocation of the unit will be pretty steep and will limit those who might be interested. The unit has the original Cat engines. A knowledgeable mechanic has stated that parts are still available for these engines. One of the two in this unit badly needs rebuilding. The other did operate when the unit was put in storage. One of the two traction motors is also burned out due to a motor shop rewinding mistake that was never resolved under warranty. The locomotive also had some jury rigging repairs done by the shipyard personnel before it was donated. So, the old girl really needs some serious repairs. I'm sure the Board would go along with the unit becoming a parts donor to another unit that might be in the restoration process if that even exists. If you know of anyone interested or have some creative or helpful suggestions please let us know. Criticism of the Board's decision will not be helpful and will be ignored. It's going somewhere in Oregon this week. I switched a flat out of the way on Sunday to be able to have it pulled out of the storage tracks.
