Just got a look at the photos, and I can't begin to say how much I appreciate what has been done to bring this grand lady back. I have to admit, she's going to take a little getting used to, what with a feedwater heater and stoker (for some reason they look "foreign" on the 4501), but she's likely in better shape than when she left a pre-Eddystone Baldwin Works in 1911. And the work that went before--a twisted frame, and the boiler twisted, too! And no record of how that happened! I have to wonder if that wasn't what gave the trailing truck trouble over the years. Again, thanks for the work going into the 4501--it's really grand! |
