A small, but important, part of NYS&W's Utica NY branch is comprised of ex-NYO&W and West Shore trackage. The O&W line serves a warehouse in New Hartford while the West Shore line serves several businesses in New York Mills. I came upon the crew today after they switched out six boxcars from the New Hartford warehouse. They were then heading to NY Mills to pick-up an empty covered hopper.
The first picture shows GP40 3040 with "one foot" on O&W trackage and the "other foot" on the West Shore.
The second photo shows the conductor on the ground, having just thrown the "O&W" switch.
