Wonderful!! She sounds good from the soundtrack, nice and square and minimal rod noise. Doesn't seem to have any serious steam leaks. Nice turn of speed for the test, and NO DIESELS; Ross Rowland, the late Claytor brothers and especially the late Bill Purdie would be proud: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb5skTdvLvw Hmm. . .progressive, modern, profitable Eastern railroad runs, in celebration of its heritage, three steam locomotives (soon to be joined by a fourth). Of the four, only the last one has roller bearings, all the others are on plain bearings (at least on the locomotives, if not the tenders). Two of them are over 100 years old, and one of those is still hand fired, the other only rebuilt with a mechanical stoker in the last year or so. What does NS know that CSX does not? |

Well, not quite true. The 765 has a roller bearing pilot truck and the 4 main driver axles are roller bearings (orginally built). The tender is also all roller bearings, converted by FWRHS. There has been talk of converting the trailer truck to roller bearings. |

Thanks for the correction; knew about the tender conversion, but thought the locomotive was on plain bearings. |
