well looking for In-Service and Coonskin Park Photos or Newspaper articles from 1986 when she was almost restored by STEAM. i am interested in helping her get restored and starting a group to do so.

I'm not sure if he's still around or not. Emerson Roth was STEAM's president. He can fill in a lot of blanks for you. Unfortunately I lost his contact info. He lives in East Canton, Ohio. Hopefully, this helps.

Before trying to "reinvent the wheel," it's imperative to gather as much information as possible from as many people as possible who have had hands-on experience with this and other C&O Kanawhas and functionally identical Nickel Plate Berkshires.

The C&O Historical Society is an excellent start. Remember that there are a multitude of other C&O 2700's out there, many in better condition (at least cosmetically) than 2700.

Have you yet spoken to anyone at the Dennison RR Museum yet? Can't even say for sure if they hold title to 2700 or not. Something tells me there is no distinct, clear answer to the question of who holds the title. Not sure if Doug Bailey still claims to have it or not. There are a number of folks in the Akron/Canton area who could help shed some light...Gary Antonacci, Dick Dute, Terry Bentley among others, Rob and Nils at Rob's Trains in Alliance. They got so close but not quite. At the time, the major boiler and firebox repairs were done by, I believe Gary Bensman and Tom Diehl. After that, the organization suddey fell apart from the inside out. I lived in Canton for about 10 years and got to know just about everyone who had been a part of the original 2700 STEAM team. Unfortunately, it did not end well.

2700 sure needs a savior and a cosmetic overhaul if nothing else and to get some of the major missing parts reunited with her. AOSR Museum probably has most of them in Sugar Creek for safe keeping.

My understanding is there was a heated debate between Dennison Railroad Museum and the owners of STEAM that went to court. From what I recall Dennison won in court. This was from years ago. I know Dennison started a fundraising campaign for cosmetic restoration several years ago. If you read through the interchange forum you should find more information on 2700 and the debate between the 2 organizations claiming ownership.
