Post subject:  Could this have been the F40PH?

Found this image on a Facebook group. The drawing was apparently floating around EMD in the 70s. The locomotive would have been shaped to match the budd Amfleet cars. IMHO but the F40 ended up being was most likely better than this concept. Fitting the guts of an
GP40-2 (an F40PH is basically a GP40-2) in such a low profile would have been difficult, also repaireing ribbed curved steel is much more difficult then flat plain steel. And as we know the F40PH served maney more roads than Amtrak and this thing would look silly pulling Metra Bi Levle cars. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... 1?sfnsn=mo
