After having been cancelled last year due to Covid concerns the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City has decided to host their rail camp this year. The camp will be reduced to six participants in order to insure Covid safety protocols. The camp will be held from June 10-14. With a reduced number of participants, those attending will get plenty of hands on time with the equipment. Attendees will learn to operate the museum's 1926 Edwards motorcar, the 1910 McKeen motorcar(the only operating McKeen) as well as hands on training of both firing and operating Virginia and Truckee 4-6-0 25. Attendees will also get a behind the scenes tour of the museum. Breakfast and lunch is included as well as a banquet on Saturday. If you are interested in an intensive hands on railroading experience please contact Adam Michalski, Curator of Education, Nevada State Railroad Museum at 775-687-6953 ext. 224 or email at amichalski@nevadaculture.org. The cost for the camp is $1195. Not inexpensive but a nice way to spend stimulus money and support a great museum. Past attendees have given the program great reviews. |

Three spaces have been reserved. If anyone is considering signing up it would be wise to do so soon. |
