An article in The Railway Magazine, August 1905 discussed the use of 'Railway' and 'Railroad' in different jurisdictions around the world at the turn of the 20th century. The more common term in the USA was railroad but there was no legal difference. Many US railroads found themselves reorganizing in bankruptcy,and in mamy cases the XY&Z Railroad reorganized as the XY&Z Railway. Phil Mulligan |
