| Post subject: | The History of Industrial Railways in North Kent |
Although we think of Kent as the Garden of England, there was a was wealth of industry along the South side of the Thames Estuary, in the Medway Estuary and along the lower reaches of the River Medway. .... The first linked article begins a survey of the cement and other industrial sites on the South side of the River Thames and it's estuary. I cannot pretend that the survey will be comprehensive, but it will be a significant insight into the various industrial railways which acted like its lifeblood. http://rogerfarnworth.com/2026/08/26/ke ... ys-part-1/ Some industrial sites warrant their own article, two of those have already been covered: Kent Cement Works, Stone, Dartford; and Swanscombe Cement Works. Others will follow on this thread. |
