I am working with a professional advertising exec in trying to track down all of the existing North American "streamlined" steam locomotives currently in preservation circles ("streamlined" in the sense that the locomtoives are covered in some sort of large decorative shroud). These are the ones I've come up with:

N&W #611 Roanoke, VA
SP #4449 Portland, WA
C&O #490 Baltimore, MD

Surely there are more; am I missing any?? If so, please post!!

The following could be added to your list:

Canadian Pacific #2839
Canadian Pacific #2860
Canadian Pacific #2850
SP #4460 - semi-streamlined (may not count)
CB&Q #4000 - survives without its shroud

I cannot think of any others. Many of the locomotives that either were built with shrouds as original equipment or had it added later simply were not very popular with the maintenance personnel. The shrouds were slowly cut away until finally removed to make them easier to maintain. Many Hudsons, Mountains, and Pacifics were equipped with shrouds, but not many shrouds or de-shrouded engines survived the end of the steam era. We are lucky to have the CB&Q #4000 as an example of one that survived the de-shrouding process. #4000 looks better as a standard Hudson anyhow. Hope this helps.

Similarly, would you count the cosmetic work on SP 4449 as "streamlining"? It has more metal on its smokebox door than it needs, after all........
Two other streamlined steam locos IN North America, but not of North American origin, are the London & North Eastern A4 Pacifics--one in Canada, and one at the National RR Museum in Green Bay.

There are other Canadian ones, like the CPR 4-8-4 in Regina(it's in our Canadian Steam vintage series but I can't recall the number)

Also there is 6079(CN 4-8-2) in Capreol
I believe there are several others at Delson, Que at the National Museum, that are either CN or CP.

I suggest you try the steamlocomotive.com site for all your answers!

Canadian Pacific seemed to be really sold on streamlining. Even their big 2-10-4s such as 5935 in Delson Quebec had it.
By the way. For all you east coast people searching your maps for Portland Washington, look a little south to Oregon.

Canadian National #6069, 4-8-2, is located in
Sarnia, Ontario off Front Street along a little
used elevator spur near the riverfront park. I'll try and get a picture if your interested.

I did some checking and both Canadian Pacific
4-8-4's survive today...Numbers 3100 and 3101. There are photos on steamlocomotive.com, with regular headlights, but the 1958 image we have of 3101 is streamlined like the hudsons.

In addition there are the following hudsons

6077 (Capreol....I earlier stated it was 6079)

In addition CPR had a bunch of G3 pacifics in the 2300 and 2400 number series that looked real similar to Royal Hudsons. I don't know how many of them survive but I bet there are some in the east.

As some have stated, it really depends on what you define as "streamlined". Does just having "elephant ears" (smoke deflectors) for instance, mean streamlined? By the way, a photo of 6069 via the steamlocomotive.com link below. She actually is in pretty decent shape, thanks to a core groups of guys who have been keeping her painted, etc. for the past couple of years. She even has her markers and headlight lit at night.
