Western Maryland 4-8-4s

Six WM 4-8-4s around the table in what looks like a publicity photo, likely at the recently razed Hagerstown, MD roundhouse. None survived, despite being relatively new.

The photo was taken at Hagerstown. It would be interesting to know if it were taken as publicity or after steam was dead and the engines stored. The small engine in the photo is a H-7b class 2-8-0, one of three classes of engines WM Scenic 734 resembles. Mechanically the 734 is closer to a H-8 but from this angle it looks like the H-7b due to similar sand domes. The truth is from this angle and distance it is very had to tell that is not the 734 sitting there proving the convincing job WM Scenic did in producing a similar look alike locomotive. Congratulations to WM Scenic for their attention to detail.

Somewhere down the list a photo of WM pacific 203 was posted along with this photo. I can not find the original post but do remember that photo was taken beside the Elkins roundhouse for anyone who cares.
