There are a total of 15 stalls in the roundhouse, 6 long stalls and 9 shorter ones. What look like pits on those aerial photos are actually pilings being driven to support the building and the tracks. There will be 673 pilings driven 65-feet down to bedrock to support the roundhouse and the tracks inside. There are already 72 pilings driven around the perimeter of the turntable, underneath the perimeter wall.

The soil in this part of Ohio is mostly clay, which helps to explain why the Belden Brick Company has several plants in and around Sugarcreek. While the soil may be wonderful for making brick, it is a difficult soil on which to build something like this. Thus the need for all the pilings.

While there will certainly be at least one inspection pit in the roundhouse, what you are seeing right now are not the pits.

Can anyone report on if the turntable (or turntables) have been moved to the roundhouse site? In addition to what was posted here an earlier thread also said the 115 foot one came from the Western Maryland Hagerstown roundhouse group.

Hmmmm.............. "Since he no longer owns a railroad line, Jerry will not be running passenger excursion trains, but his equipment – both locomotives and cars – are available for use by other tourist railroads and excursion train operators."

I wonder if "Midwestern" GTW 6325 has roller bearings...............

[runrunrunrunrunrun..................]

Alex, just because he sold the railroad freight service doesn't mean he did not retain the right to run excursion trains. It could be up to Jerry. Kind of like the railroads, they joined Amtrak but did not give up the right to run passenger trains if they wanted to do so. Of course I don't know the details of the sale.
