Here are some photos of the new pad. It looks pretty solid to me. As you can see its in front of the Guelph VIA station. I've been told that GO plans to extend train service up to Guelph in a several years time and when that happens, the slab will be incorperated into a new platform that will be built.

I've been told that GO used to run trains up to Guelph and that the siding 6167 will be near was used to store trains. There are even Pyle-National connections coming out of the ground.

That's right Rob! No rail. She'll be sitting on concrete. The pile of 100 Lb Algoma Steel rails and plastic ties sitting next to the pad is for some other project.

Today is the big day. After 43 years of being on display next to the CNR Guelph Sub
(formerly the Brampton Sub), 6167 will be moved to a newer and more glamourous a spot a few hundred feet away where she will continue to sit outside on display, still along side the Guelph Sub.

If anyone is in the the area and wants come and watch, the locomotive currently sits on Carden street in Guelph, next to the downtown bus terminal and just down the street from the Guelph VIA station. The new spot is located directly across the CNR Guelph Sub from the VIA rail station and right next to 72 Farquhar Street

Here is some info on the Transporation centre that required this move:

The presentation includes a map of the new transit terminal Guelph plans on building.

Joe;

You and your guys must be proud of the move. I've recently been to Guelph (seems like every weekend the past month) looking for a place for my eldest daughter, and have driven past 6167 a few times.

The place we have found is about 500 metres south of where 6167 will be resting, so I'm sure I'll see her in her new resting place.

Good work;

Thanks; JohnS.

Hire yourselves out to Fort Erie, next, if you please.

Richard, I have no interest in working on that 'thing'... I'd much rather deal with 40 years of neglect, then 30 years of stupidity.

I'll hoist a pint in celebration today - a fine end to a long and tedious process. From here on in, its pretty much decoration and keeping out the rain.......

How is slagging off another group really going to benefit 6167 Joe?

Let me rephrase that. Which engine would any of you rather work on:

I'm just saying that I'd much rather work on the engine in the second picture. Also worth mentioning is that the people involved with the engine in the first picture have all vanished into thin air and as far as I know, have never been seen again for quite some time now and left a mess for others to deal with today.

Now now Joe, when you're over working on our steam engine, you'll be very tempted to want to go over and work on 6218!! I mean, you'll only be a few blocks away!! Once you've done getting our #46 fixed up, 6218 will be calling!!!!
