Absolutely Rob!

If my local museum was anything like Strasburg, TVRM or any other place with 2-8-0 kettles running 15mph, I would be there every weekend. The PA and Northeast is chock full of fantastic museums and operations that the rest of us would love to have in our back yard. In fact, many would argue that some of these museum set the bar for what other museums should achieve to be.

(And why is it there are so many great places in the NE? Population?)

Two Hallelujah's and an Amen to the above comments. I have to go out of state to find regularly scheduled operating anything (except nearby Amtrak), much less steam. A minimum 3 hour drive to find operating steam, even though Virginia has some of the best tourism demographics in the country.

Well, 844 pulled two great trains this weekend. I'm glad I went. I'd never have guessed she could pull that huge train at 75mph, or rather that they would let her run that fast. Funny passing cars on the interstate that are doing 55-65 and your doing 75. Saw the trooper chased down a few ppl that where pacing.
I have news up 3985 that I will post later. For now, I'm going to bed, was a long day.

All I can say is this --- experience steam when and where you can, and realize that there is a common fallacy that steam runs on coal, oil or water....it runs on MONEY. Your money, donations, memberships or tickets purchased, are a large part of the reason they continue to do so. Thanks to anyone who, in the roughest economy in years, continue to do so.

Sincerely,

TJG
