Man, that sure was some serious work! Seems like the FRA man found something potentially very dangerous if not attended to promptly. A wreck of a tourist passenger train off that mountain grade would surely have been DISASTEROUS, and would likely shut down the RR permanently.

I would prefer, and I think the CTSRR would prefer, that we not get into speculation about it.
NO it was NOT 'very dangerous if not attended to promptly'. But it DID need fixing. So it was fixed for once and for all.

Kudos to the hard-working crews, who took a difficult situation and handled it with great speed and obvious effort. C&TS has every reason to be proud of how they coped with this situation.
