Steam preservation on the water - CGC Lilac

Triple-expansion steam engine-equipped Lilac, a 1933-vintage Coast Guard (nee- US Lighthouse Service) Lighthouse Tender is the subject of a preservation effort in New York City:

Twin tripple expansion!

We moved the Lilac last year with the Cornell. Big boat. Pain in the behind to make up to and tie up. But fun none the less.

We put the Lilac alongside the Mary Whalen (whom we also moved there...and a bunch of other times) for City Of Water Day.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a similar engine preserved at the Smithsonian American History Museum. Really neat display!
