Moved out of the roundhouse and over to the machine shop on 4-18-11 in preparation for departure by truck, hopefully soon.

I actually hauled her drivers to Chattanooga several years ago to be turned at Tvrm.

I think that the tender is already back at Altoona. So, who spearheaded the original restoration anyway?

I don't know. I went up to Scranton in 2001 to get 5288 and got the roundhouse tour.

By truck. That throws me.
Perhaps Altoona is ready to begin the long process of finishing the rebuild and assembly. God knows, I hope so.

I brought the wheels by truck. We put 5288 on a depressed center flatcar. We also brought back and old f unit and a prime mover. It took most of a week to prep the steamer for the move. The idea with 5288 was to rebuild her into a close copy of a ps4. With the untimely death of our president Mr. Soule that went out the window.

I'm not a Pennsy fan, but reading about this and seeing how close she might be to becoming alive again is just a heartbreaker.

Not entirely. I had the chance to speak with a gentleman from Williams Grove recently, and that was his estimation. Claimed that a great deal of work had been done improperly, then was redone over again, and supposedly is fairly close to being ready to go back together again. Of course, he could be wrong. . .and this is still a heartbreaker. . .

I not only think I live in the wrong time, I've had friends tell me that's so. . .
