Can't add much about Spokane, but the SP regularly threatened eviction of the Portland engines for years, going abck to the expansion of the intermodal facility. They threatened, but never followed through.

As of last week contractors removed the fuel rack, pumps, pump houses, and even the fuel tank foundations in the old fueling area at Brooklyn. At this time we have't been asked to leave the Brooklyn Roundhouse, but the work going on around us doesn't make us feel very secure in our current location. The Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation (ORHF), which is made up of the mainline rail groups in Portland, is active in trying to locate property in Portland for a permanent home for the city owned SP 4449, SP&S 700, and OR&N 197. If we are able to secure the Roundhouse and locate property that will allow it, we would like to re-erect the Brooklyn Roundhouse at a new location. To be able to do this, we need your donations!

The ORHF and its "inner groups" are working on some rather big "events" at this time. All with the intention of raising funds and spreading the word of the locomotives current need for a permanent home. Keep checking on the ORHF web site for updates.

The ORHF is not-for-profit, and 501c3 status is pending.
