Yep, follow those links and you'll be able to receive up-to-date information on the ongoing restoration project (as well as happenings at Steamtown in general), and will will be able to access a treasure-trove of documents--including pictures, studies, and stories--about the locomotive. Also, please take note of the following pages:

1. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Delaware ... 3629534133
2. http://projectdlw565.webs.com/

These pages are owned and managed by an individual no longer connected to the project. Therefore, they will not be as reliable as the two Steve posted in regards to obtaining information on the restoration. Happy browsing!

This points out to all of us the fact that if an organization is going to establish any Internet presence of this sort, it needs to take steps to assure that they will retain control of the content and access. Far too often, we have seen official and unofficial websites go into "time warp," freeze, or die because of the parting or death of the only member with access/control. (Thankfully, I have yet to run into someone carrying out malice against a RR museum, chapter, or the like, but I suspect it will only be time. It's become routine for professional web services to offer a domain package option that includes buying the domains such as XYZRRMuseumSucks.org ....)

I saw to it that the passwords, etc. for the museum/etc. accounts for which I occasionally do stuff were printed out, handed to appropriate officers, and a couple copies sealed in envelopes that can be more easily accessed (such as in the back of the check ledger, with the official papers, etc.).

Well, we had access, the person is question just removed it. Or, a certain member of the group usurps control by creating a new site (as happened to me a few years ago). It's probably for the best though, as his credibility continues to wane with each post. But I do understand and support wholeheartedly your point!

Question, How much more do you have to do, till the locomotive is rolling like an 2-6-0 again?

I think Steve Hussar is commenting on the behaviors of the individual who was recently relieved of his association with the 565 project at Steamtown, and why all the infighting over connections and credibility. What is the point of trying to hobble a group working towards a higher goal.

Mr. Glueck, I think you're assumption of Steve's comment is correct. Also, I find your signature quote very cool (off-topic, I know. Sorry!)

I suspect that James Quay is another Leonard F. Shaner impersonation and is trying to stir up trouble on this forum. That is what is truly sad!

I first noticed Mr. Quay's postings yesterday afternoon and had the same thought that Mike has expressed. Pottstown and Valley Forge are but a stones throw apart on Route 422.
The fact that the poster becomes an RyPN member and asks about 565 such a short time after Mr. Shaner's removal from the project is quite a coincidence.

I also received a totally out-of-the blue pair of PMs from someone claiming to NOT be Len Shaner, even saying he hates the guy, among other things. This was in mid-October, which seems to be about the time Mr. Shaner was asked to leave Steamtown. The writer of these PMs has as yet not posted anything on-line, and I wonder why I got PMs from him; I had not posted anything about Shaner or Lackawanna 565 for quite some time.

Very curious-

Edited- I just took a look at the profile for the guy that sent me the above cited PM's; signed on in 2009, but no postings. A 'sleeper', with multiple IDs just in case? Good catch on the quay/wharf thing; maybe he was secretly converting a tank car into a mini-sub to go look for the 0-6-0. (How long until 4/1/12?)

I have yet to learn what the infamous Mr. Shaner did to get himself un-invited from a National Historical Site. I realize this is not a gossip forum, but I don't think it's unfair to inquire about the situation. Can anybody state, factually, what was Steamtown's complaint?

Without further comment, Mr. Quay is no longer with us.

Interesting choice of surname...
Quay: a landing place, especially one of solid masonry, constructed along the edge of a body of water; wharf.
