Megadittos to the above, Bob. (Unless you despise Rush Limbaugh and his "dittoheads," that is.)

I saw the topic and assumed that it referred to the cynical resignation we all feel as we realize we can't do/save it all, etc.

Please don't become a stranger.

A heartfelt thank you for your help. Moderating is never fun, and we all can understand the stresses involved.

Thanks,

Ted.

Doug -

Thanks for all of your work which has helped make RyPN the "go to" place for railway preservation.

Doug

Please let me add my name to the list of people saying thank you for your service.

It's unfortunate that a discussion group like this even needs moderation, but that's what can happen when misinformed people post messages that only prove they don't know what they're talking about and in some cases get vindictive. Sophisticated users of forums like this learn to ferret out these people and ignore their postings, but even that effort should be unnecessary.

Thanks again

Bob h

Ah...now that I'm officially a "regular" user, I'm happy to reply. Thanks for all the kind words. I think I sort of functioned as the resident curmudgeon who occassionally got irritated enough to scream "enough is enough!" and conduct a bit of slash and burn moderation.

Essentially RyPN is still following the model that Hume Kading created for it. Randy and Tom are excellent (and more restrained) moderators and should serve you all well. David Collison is the real reason that RyPN still exists. Without him, it wouldn't.

I used to frequently discuss what I was trying to do with steamlocomotive.info here on RyPN. I'm going to try to dial that back now that I'm now not a part of management (wouldn't want to get moderated :) ). I've added a forum (a free, hosted Proboard thing) to steamlocomotive.info and will confine routine announcement things to it. Just click the Forums button the next time you visit my site.

Again, thanks for the kind words.

Doug,

Thanks for your time and effort.

I immensely enjoy the information and ideas I gather on this site daily. To you, and all the others that labor for this service, please know that you provide a great deal of pleasure and practical service to both the active rail preservation participants and those with an intellectual interest.

Thank you.

I too, can only add my thanks to the messages that have already been posted here. I must confess, I have no idea of what you do, having never done it, but I imagine it took effort and time that you might have preferred to spend elsewhere. That someone gives of themselves in that way is always something others should be thankful for, and too rarely are.
