Just curious will the selection of John Snow as the new Treasury Secretary and his rture from CSX have an bearing on CSX policies with regard to any moves to Baltimore, if they manage to get pull it off?

My thoughts exactly. It seems that when the unknown arises in the preservation community there is instant negativity on the part of some people. I'm sure that there are more executives dealing with the Baltimore moves than just Mr. Snow. Maybe Mr. Bush needs to preface his introduction of Mr. Snow with the following disclaimer for the naysayers in the crowd, "Mr. Snow's appointment will/will not (take your pick depending on your outlook on life) affect the ability of PM 1225/NKP 765/Milwaukee Rd 261 (again, take your pick of locomotive or enter your own favorite) to operate to the celebration in Baltimore. I know that this burning question is foremost in the minds of my fellow Americans." Sheesh, the man has not even been comfirmed yet. Let's wait for some real information and quit looking for a reason that will keep big steam from OPERATING to the B&O museum.

I doubt any effect at all will come because of his departure. Policy of that nature has probebly been discussed and settled awhile back. The biggest problem for any of the engines invited are A. lack of funding from the B&O Event committee to get them there B. Lack of funding and fund raising directly by the invitees to make up the difference in what The B&O Committee lacks to get engines there C. Cost of Insurance Premiums.

It all comes down to money, the hurddle for all preservation groups and operators is just that. It is not lack of will or want to only money. And the forcast is cloudy in that crystal ball.

Of the three you have :

261: coming the farthest distance and the farthest to travel over non-CSX trackage hence costing the most. Currently fund raising

1225: With out a permanent shop facility and needing to raise the money. Currently fund raising

765: In absolute pieces spread out over 3 or 4 states fighting a deadline of time and money to be ready to go.

To quoute Rich Melvin " All donations will be gladly accepted"

Open the checkbooks and contribute and picture at least gets clearer.
