Clark Kinsey took many photos during a visit to the West Fork Logging operations at both Seabeck and Mineral. We will be using some of these photos in our exhibits. There are several shots showing Unit #2 in operation, as well as the typical Kinsey photo with the entire landing crew posed beside the machine.

I find it ironic that this went out on a flatbed as it's so close to the tracks for the reverse loop for MRSR. It couldn't go out that way but it must have been so irritating for it to be that close to the tracks and couldn't get out like that.

Believe me, we tried to figure out how to move it by rail but there were obstacles that would have cost us more in resources than trucking.

Man, I really need to get out there this summer. I haven't been to MRSR since the new museum was opened at Mineral. I'm not that far away, maybe 50 miles, but anyone who's ever been there knows it's not on the way to anywhere (other than if you're going to go up Mt Rainier, that is).

That's why I wrote what I did, as I've been there plenty of times and knew there was no way you'd be able to get it out of there via the return loop at Mineral.
I feel for you all, having something that close to the tracks but having to truck it out anyway...

I wonder if you could "run" it by setting out one of your many wonderful operational locomotives next to it, and using that as a steam source, rather than taking the time to give its boiler a complete check-out. Probably wouldn't need much pressure or volume to get "everything going around."

I have seen pics of units looking like this doing bridge work driving in piers. Almost looks like it has mountings for the vertical driver. I had no idea any of these existed.

That option as been considered, yes.
