Do you think you could turn one of the Australian alco cab units into a PA by lengthening the nose and moving the cab back? Does anyone know the length of those units and if they use the same frame as an american PA?

As much as I like the DL500's, and the PA's, I think kit basing an Australian DL500 into a PA would be crazy. The DL500's or FPD7 are built to a smaller loading gauge. The cost of shipping one back to the US, and with the amount of structural steel work required to safely change one into an operational PA, you might as well build a new body and gut an C420 for the engine & other parts. BTW and off topic, I always thought it would be neat to ship to the US some of the double cab EMD's from down under. Perfect tourist line hauler.

Just wait. In five years you will be able to 3D print one of these things. They are already working on the technology to make buildings.
