The auction has almost three weeks left to go. You know it's going to go for over $10K when all is said and done. Hopefully, since it's painted for SR, it stays in the region. Hey, maybe Spencer could use a smaller train to operate around their property when they can't run the big stuff, kind of like what Strasburg has with their Cagney. Another "revenue stream", and additional attraction to bring in visitors.

It was suggested today that this is NOT the train itself that was involved in the accident, but rather the spare train which was not in use that day. Note that the page states this is the spare.

Might be worth confirming as it would be nice if it could stay local. Certainly Strasburg has proven that an additional revenue stream never hurts.

Just took another look, really to confirm for myself. The Southern engine set, as listed for sale, was not in use that day. It was the "red and grey" set that was in use during the accident.

The TV item references a derailment in Denver, it appeared to involve a steam locomotive. Anyone know the details?

The derailment in Denver was actually the 15" gauge Tiny Town railroad.
Excessive speed caused a roll over with minor injuries.
