Does anyone here know what happened the photos taken by Russell Baum of Sunbury, Pa.? Mr. Baum is known as the man who saved what is now the Cass Scenic Railroad by appearing before the West Virginia legislature in 1961. He took many photos of logging and coal railroads in that state and others.

Try the Mountain State Railroad & Logging Historical Association. Every once in a while, one of their members will post a photo on the CASSHEWS facebook page from their collection (example below). Their home page is

In reply to G W Laepple's question, many photos were scanned and given to Cass. My father's huge number of photos and negatives of Trains and railways nationwide still exist. They are in my Mother's guest room closet. My father, Russell Baum passed away in 2004, the rest of the family still love travelling to Cass. Larry Baum
