Does anyone have a scanned copy of the Gardner-Denver ADS compressors manual or parts list. These are the ones used in GE 44 tonners. I have one that is giving me problems and is probably needing rebuilt. For some reason we do not have this manual in or collection or it was misplaced.

I am not sure what model the compressors are in our 50ton GE, but I know they are not locomotive specific. One of my customers uses the same compressors in their sewage lift stations as an aerator. I have also seen them on large industrial compressor/tank combos. There is a few companies in Grand Rapids that deal in parts for these. I want to say one might be Air Components. The ones I am talking about are inline twin cylinder.

Did you try Gardner Denver? I recently contacted them about a steam duplex water pump and they had all the information on it, and could even quote all the components.

A few years ago the owner of the Polson #2 "Skip" had to fix the air compressor on the GE #4 at MC. He called me asking as I had rebuilt a 1940 compressor and had the same difficulty finding parts. I am not positive on who he found for rings/valves/bearings and a few small parts he needed. He found the parts after this shop dug around and found what MC needed for that compressor. Goofy thing I think he needed valve parts for sure and asked me. I had just scrapped an identical pump two weeks earlier and the only good parts left on that pump was the heads. Pistons, cyl, crank were more than junk. I felt I could safely scrap them with no possible use for them ever. Never ever throw anything away. Mr Murphy is just waiting for you to do it. Non mechanical people just don't understand this undeniable rule of scrapping things. Good luck with your hunt for parts I have lost all the people/info I used but one guys shop was in lower MI. I will ask Skip this weekend if he kept the contact info of where he found the GD pump parts he needed. Regards, John.

I emailed Gardner Denver last week from their website and so far no reply. I will have to shake the tree with a couple of dealers I guess.

Try this company and phone number. Thinking about how I never throw anything away I looked into my old Champion catalog and found the receipt for most of the parts I needed in my rebuild. Many parts are interchangeable but finding the charts or parts counter willing to take the time to look things up is hard. The guy here was a saint and pretty sure Skip got the parts through him. In my case the parts were drop shipped from Gardner-Denver out of Princeton, Ill. No body could find the rings I needed but they were a standard size so I just ordered from a ring company out of MI who specialized in old motors. They were cheap.

Good luck. This guy was very nice and seemed to be used to trying to find new parts for old pumps. Most shops just want you to buy a replacement. Seems fixing things is out of style to many these days. Regards, John.

If your still looking for parts yet. We both used Grumps Air for other older repair jobs. The Gardner Denver pump on our GE parts came of Gardner Denver in Chicago. They had all the parts we needed. Hope this helps.
