Royal Scot comes to town

Just an old photo of the LMS Royal Scot visiting a small Canadian town, with the locals taking a welcome break from their Depression blues to come down and see the foreign visitor.

I've misplaced my Preserved Locos of British Rail book. Does this engine still exist?

Sure does. At Bressingham in Norfolk. Currently undergoing prelimiary restoration work too!

Actually, the LMS sent no. 6152 "The King's Dragoon Guardsman" to North America renumbering it 6100 "Royal Scot". The story is that the engine identities weren't switched back upon it's return to the UK and so the preserved engine is not the original "Royal Scot" after all but has been masquerading as such since 1930. The original 6100 was scrapped in the 60s. Another bit of railway trivia...
