 Post subject: Escanaba & Lake Superior RR (Milw F units)

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering if possibly the Escanaba & Lake Superior would be interested in saving the Milw Road FP7 96-C and F7B 68B? Since they own and operate a lone Milw FP7, the 96-A, the E&LS would then have a 3 unit matched set of Ex Milw A F units and a B unit.

Although if I understand correctly? The E&LS is barely hanging on and would be short of cash for such a project.

The sights and sounds of the 3 Milw F units on a freight train would be a sight to be seen and heard. Especially in the dead of winter!

It would be cool to see Milw 96A and 96C back together again for the first time in decades.

This sort of speculation is not particularly useful, and out of place in my opinion on a board that emphasizes practical knowledge. It doesn't hurt to make everyone aware of what's out there so that items can be preserved, but it is rather arrogant to assume that organizations don't know what that is or that you know better what they should do.

With due respect, You would be surprised sometimes what other people don't know. When the task of saving CPR 5361 came up. There was more than one organization that didn't even know the old mike existed.

Some of us are familiar with the individual who would be responsible for making such a decision about acquisition.

I'll bet you the check I just got from the government today that he is aware of these two locos.

Whether he A) wants to do anything about them or B) is in any position to do anything about them is entirely up to him and whatever financial or business partners may be involved.
