For those who wanted updates on the car we have one. The car was moved from the "back lot" at Strates shows headquarters in Orlando, Fl and had some white paint added to hide spray paint added by the local brats. Some parts from the bedrooms have been removed to be restored at home. I will try to take some photos of the car to add here. It was neat to see a Chevy pickup truck doing the pulling and the car just rolling along. Thats all for now.

One obs car (as well as a food service car of some kind) from the 1938 Broadway Ltd. is partially built into the building at Quaker Square in Akron, OH, part of the former Mack Lowry collection of the old "Railways of America". There was also a really old PRR business car (I believe partially wood), I think it was the "Illinois", there as well. I'm fairly certain the business car is gone, it sat next to the CSX main for many years.

Update! New wheels have been ordered and will be on the way after the first of the year. A deal on a mid train car to work with the car is in play now. The funny part is that the other car was looked at as a parts supply for this car and it turned out to be to good to cut up. I found this photo of the car in the back lot where it has been moved back to thanks to CSX. (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=1271911) We to have it on the move to the FCEN by late march.

From the roof detail, looks like the car on its side is the now-scrapped "RALEIGH", one of the 2 ex-ACL HW cars in the consist.

That was one of the ACL cars. The other is back on the train but may not stay. Car #4 was derailed and the repairs have been made but I think Startes Shows is looking at other options for the older cars like #4. Only time will tell. These old cars do have some value as parts and the show has an idea that they are worth even more than that.

This may be a little off the trail, but thought I'd post anyway just to make sure people know about it. The NJ Museum of Transportation/Pine Creek RR here in NJ has the #3999 "Trenton" PRR business car. Its an all wood car and in poor shape. The interior is relatively complete though. I thought it was a Pb design, built in the 1880s. Not sure when it was converted to business car use off hand. But it is a surviving PRR business car. One of the oldest perhap? The picture is of it being moved in 1981 from Toms River, NJ to the museum.

Out of dumb curiosity:

Twelve or more years later:

Who ended up buying the former PRR Atterbury from the Strates company, and does it still survive? (Yes, I've done the usual internet searches, to no avail.)

Reminder, earlier JES 7 (the PRR obs) is not to be confused with later-day JES 7 (ex-LIRR MP75 commuter car 2926).

Looks like IOU Pacific, here it was in 2015:

"The Man" (first post in this thread)must have sold it to them. Edit: It was stored in Colorado at the time of the auction but I can't tell if it sold, it was valued at $25K. https://railfan.com/wp-content/uploads/ ... s-copy.pdf

These cars were built by P-S in Feb-Mar 1949 in Lot 6792 to Plan 4134 with 2 Drawing Rooms, 1 Compartment, 1 Double Bedroom, Buffet-Observation. Lot 6792 also included the two Broadway Limited Obs cars in Jan 1949 to Plan 4133 with 2 Master Rooms, 1 Double Bedroom, Buffet-Observation. The Buffet-Observation parts of both 4133 and 4134 cars were identical.

The B'way cars are 8419 Mountain View, now at The Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona and 8420 Tower View, now at RR Museum of PA in East Strasburg.

The 4134 cars are:
8421 THOMAS ALEXANDER SCOTT
8422 GEORGE BROOKE ROBERTS
8423 FRANK THOMSON
8424 ALEXANDER JOHNSTON CASSATT
8425 JAMES McCREA
8426 SAMUEL REA
8427 WILLIAM WALLACE ATTERBURY

In Nov 1957 8424, 8427, 8423, 8425 and 8422 were renumbered 7153-7158 as Parlor Cars in that order. They were returned to Sleeping Cars in June, 1958. Parlor Cars were operated by PRR then while Sleeping Cars were leased to the Pullman Company.

The two 4133 cars were assigned to PRR 28/29 Broadway Limited which remained All-Pullman until numbers 28/29 and the obs cars were withdrawn in Dec 1967.

The 4134 cars carried the markers of lesser Blue Ribbon trains such as 48/49, The General; 30/31 Spirit of St.Louis; 58/59, Liberty Limited.

If a Broadway 4133 car were shopped, a 4134 car was substututed and a prewar car pinch hit for the 4134 car.

This car is still in Alamosa, CO and to my knowledge has not been sold yet. Other than the interior being filled with about 2' of pigeon sh*t, it is remarkably intact and in decent condition considering it was based in Florida, and was used by a circus for so many years. As few PV owners want to buy "project" cars these days, I suspect it will sell for cheap.
