I'am aware of the passible need of making the holes in the tube-plates circular again. The rest of the process whith rolling, welding flue ends in the firebox tubeplate +++ are " procedure as usual" in our system for boilermaintenance. It was just the removal of the old tubes whitout the use of a torch I wondered about - you see the engine shed is an old woodbuilding so avoid using tools that can be at risk for a fire is one of our goals.

OK you can remove tubes from loco out side of shed. Or you can use a chisel and air hammer to collaps the tube in front then slit with a riper , then collaps tube in fb. in 1 or 2 places then chip off bead and push out with your tube pusher. Its hard work and you can damage the tube sheet if not careful but it works. regards bb

Thees ideas compares much to my owns. Luckily enogh the 22 superheaterflues protude about an inch or so into the smokebox so there are really something to get a good hold to - I hope. ( the tubes ( or flues?) are just 4060 mm or abut 13 and 1/2 feet long )

Thanks for your answers, Ragnar
