Said to be the only remaining locomotive run by Casey Jones. Back of photo says 1917, but I suspect 1948/49 at the Chicago RR Fair.

Even newer acquisitions (after IC 201) are a 1918 Standard Tank Car Co. freight car from Indian Refining Co, four additional passenger cars, and a Kankakee, IL streetcar body. The Kankakee body is pretty old and there is some mystery as to its heritage and history since there has been so much time elapsed since it came out of service.

Anyone wishing to offer bits of info on the streetcar should feel free to contact me off list. Thanks

Bob-

I'm telling you guys, there is a nice-riding wooden NKP coach in Wellington, Ohio with your name on it. Now having seen it up close (thanks to Dennis) I think if Mad River and NKP can't seem to fit the last wood-bodied NKP car in their mission statement (??????) maybe you guys could see the light.

Nice pic but I am having trouble seeing the railcar - it must be in the background. In spite of what must seem like runaway acquisitions, I bet we walk away from 5 candidates for every one we get. Not only does a new acquisition take a lot of time and effort, but do not forget the three primary factors - FUNDING< FUNDING< FUNDING.

And oddly enough, we do often consider where a new car fits in our mission and goals, broad though they may be. You are right though in that the obvious fit for this car is Mad River. So what do you know about the condition of the car and availability? Is there a purchase price? Free? On active rails? Is it in danger of being scrapped? Contact me off list if you want to discuss this further. Thanks

Bob,

NKP 54 is available for FREE to any museum wishing to acquire and restore it. I have been told that cranes and loading assistance are available at it's present location, so the only cost involved would be the actual transportation of the car (and any un-loading expense if the acquiring museum doesn't have it's own cranes).
I understand this is a very well riding car, so it would be a good candidate for restoration to operation. It is the last remaining NKP wood coach, built in 1910 by ACF. It's currently located in Ohio, on the Lorain and West Virginia Railway. Below is a photo of it.

Wow! That looks like just the kind of sow's ear that the Strasburg turns into a silk purse!

Wow that looks just like the picture I took of that car out of the cab of the E-8 when I was going by it. I will do anything I can to see this car restored. by the way it was built in 1905. and yes she rides great and deserves better than she's getting currently!
The Lorain and West virginia is in very a strange place , good income, not enough of it Rail related but to many "PERSONAL ISSUES"
I personaly would love to ride this car and L.S.E. 167 on our line!
