Sorry, did not mean to imply TVRM let the 35 rot, but it was in poor shape when I saw it, apparently just on the TVRM yard in storage. Photos of the 36 look bad, doesn't look like there is ever much chance that these two trim Shays will ever run again, or even be presentable for display....what a shame. The 36 was never at TVRM, was it? Thanks.

Never say never. Twice in the past 10 years #36 has been looked at with an eye for restoration. Both times the results came back resonably favorable as I have been told. However each time other shays became available for sale an have kept it on the back burner. The #36 is still in fairly good shape and isn't forgotten by the people who matter.
Lets wait and see what happens....

It's OK... Actually, both were there for a short period of time. The 35 actually ran a couple of times, including during the dedication of the Emma Street site where the East Chattanooga Shop and turntable are now located. It also ran some at the Western Union site where TVRM initially stored its first equipment prior to finding a permanent home. As far as I know the 36 never ran in Chattanooga and left TVRM stewardship after only a brief period.

BTW, Randy, I'm not sure where that Blue Book is that Jim is referencing, as I looked and even Amazon doesn't have one listed... LOL!

I'm not sure if shameless promotion is allowed on this board but the TVRM gift shop has a book for sale with photos showing No. 35 under steam, and 36 & 35 in same photo. Proceeds help fund preservation...
