With good medium, why not go straight to the source and channel a genuine 1860's era railroader?

Otherwise, perhaps some of the surviving railroads that can trace their lineage back that far (UP comes to mind) might have some kind of useful documentation gathering dust in their archives?

Has it been that long since I last saw the film??? Gee, I know it was a long time ago, but I didn't think it was before Mom & Dad bought our first color TV!!!

So, what color were the boxcars?

Mineral red. Wilbur Kurtz was probably consulted by Disney and he had interviewed all of the major southern participants in the pursuit while they were still alive. For those unfamiliar with Mr. Kurtz, he was the son-in-law of Conductor Fuller and was a well respected authority on Atlanta during the War.

The boxcars can be seen in the background of this photo, taken in February at Branford.
