I admire the work that the Mid-Continent is doing and especially their wood car collection.

But I hope that they do a cosmetic restoration on that engine and display it for a while.

Their shop has three steam engine projects going now and it seems to me that they have their hands full.

I would really like tho visit the museum some day and ride behind a steam locomotive.

Ted, from what I gather the former curator, Don Ginter has that in mind for the engine. Cosmetic restoration to be used in conjunction with the two restored Copper Range coaches. The engine itself looked pretty long in the tooth for operating anytime soon. One would have to really get into it to be sure. You are 100% correct on having a full plate as far as current engines torn apart and under restoration. The last thing we need is another parts kit. I will try to assist in the move as I only live 200 miles from Houghton. I do hope the #175 finds a good home too. Thanks for the interest, and do come visit. John.

Just a quick update on this statement. There are no longer any plans for C&NW #175 in light of the high costs Mid-Continent is experiencing in moving CR #29 from the same location.

I've been told that this move cost Mid-Continent in excess of $20,000.
