Regarding ridership figures and ticket prices for tourist railways, and attendance figures / ticket prices for railway museums; is anyone out there aware of any industry-wide or regional efforts to tabulate this kind of data? Perhaps TRAIN has done some work in this area?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who might know, thanks!

Interesting note, we (the HVRR) share this type of information with other RRs in our area. Ridership was down at almost all of the western tourist RRs. Cause is believed to be high gas price and hot hot weather. It is our understand that one of, if not the only western RR to show an increase in ridership was the Grand Canyon, which has shown an increase every year, I think. They also have very high steam miles and high passeneger miles. They won an award in this area a few years ago.

I have never seen TRAIN publish this type of information. At the same time, it is my feeling that TRAIN members are very willing to share this information. If I were you, I would be direct and ask a few people how they did. It is very educational to listen to other stories as you figure out how or where you want to go in the industry.
