Georgetown Loop's much-criticised train barn, used to store the ex-C&S passenger cars. Said to be a poorly designed building for the purpose with no direct rail access. Anyone have exterior photos?http://naphotos.nerail.org/showpic/?photo=200506301337171056.jpg&bydate%3A114

Was there about a week ago and they had the building open. It is a peculiar bulding. The tracks in it are not stright. One seems to have a constant curve in it and the other is something of an S curve. The trussworks inside give it an old time feel, just not one very authentic feel. The support post for the trusses are outside the walls and inly extend 3/4 of the way up the sides of the buidings, making for a strange look.It looks lilke it was designed by a well meaning but not rail-literatearchitect, who used more elements of a train shed than of a car house or shop building. The tracks do not connect, but look like they could if the diabled parking was obliterated. Alas, there is nowhere to move that parking to.I still find it telling that the CHS built engine house behind this building has no smokejacks in it.

The "Crystal Palace" is an attractive structure, and it's too bad it was not placed where it can be actively used to house rolling stock on the railroad. It was somehwat odd to see it located where it was (looking brand new), and I understand it's been there like that more than a decade now.I noticed the new operator (or somebody) has removed the tracks on the Palace-facing side of the Plume depot...
