I fail to see the point of beating up on an outfit (UP) who has been nothing if not good to the preservation community from the beginning of time. The world has changed...If one wishes to assign 'blame' for UP's behavior re: the heritage paint schemes-why not look no farther than Sarbanes-Oxelely. S-A has had all manner of impact on the way publicly held corporations comport themselves. As any further comment would be outside the realm of this forum-interested parties are advised to GOOGLE the topic for additional information. On a different level, the trend to strictly enforce intellectual property rights seemed to begin with the efforts of Harley-Davidson Motor Company once they went public back in the mid-80's. Not surprising since new motorcycles are a small percentage of H-D branded merchandise sales. The brand itself is far more valuable. The tie in with preservation is that there was a minor effect on availability of materials for antique models.Ditto for GM-who has really cracked down on all the various outfits who used their name and brands to hawk merchandise to the car restoration fraternity. Although I long ago retired from that game in favor of 1:1 model railroading, I have gotten much in the way of positive feedback on GM's direct involvement in restoration parts. To re-iterate my overarching point once again-if folks are consider to beat up on outfits such as UP for lawfully protecting what is theirs-one shouldn't be surprised when they decide to begin dumping their history into the trash wholesale-a la what GM did with EMD.Think about it...Dave K
