The locomotive for auction is a Harpur, one of two built for this outfit back in 1966. I was told the locomotives left Harpur’s shop in Wilmington, CA incomplete as the client arranged for the boilers to be built at Texas Boiler in Fort Worth and brought in another contractor to complete the work in Texas (would have to check notes for the name) This was the “#2” locomotive on their line, the “#1” was sold reportedly at scrap price (along with a string of Harpur-built coaches) in the ‘80s and passed through a variety of owners in Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado. Gary Norton’s Silverwood Central owned it for a time, and the Harpur coaches are still in use up there. The locomotive is now at a restoration shop in Georgetown, CA beside the locomotives for the tourist railroad project at Kilohana Plantation in Kauai.

Astroworld also “inherited” the equipment from Magic Mountain near Los Angeles, which included a GE 25-tonner I believe from Monolith-Portland Cement near Tehachepi, as well as the first of the Custom Fabricators diesels (built from the running gear of old Vulcan 0-4-0Ts in Johnson City, TN) purchased from Opryland in Nashville. All of this equipment has reportedly been trucked off to the Six Flags chain’s Georgia park near Atlanta, which is home to the two other Harpurs in existence, one of which was dieselized by that park one or two years ago and still runs there. Apparently the 5/8-scale Harpur coaches built to go along with the locomotive for auction were sent to the Georgia outfit as well.

The locomotive built by Custom Fabricators has been devlivered to SFOG missing most all of it's hydraulic equipment, the coaches are not on site.
