I've been looking at photos of the recent celebration at NCTM over the weekend. Lots of N&W and Southern diesels, but what happened to steam? Any estimates on when it will be back?

Currently there is no operating steam locomotive at Spencer.

#604 is in the middle of extensive boiler and firebox repairs. The Boiler currently resides in the shop of Historic Machinery Services.

During the annual inspection of #1925, we found some deterioration of the boiler tubes that concerned us. We pulled several tubes from the boiler to determine the extent of the problem. We have decided to take the locomotive out of service until a full 1472 day inspection can be performed.

At this time, there is no date for the return to service of either locomotive.
