Do you mean that the 2 diners are at the power plant? I'm not familiar with the area - are they accessable for photos? Where is this location exactly?

When I last saw them 6 years ago, both of those D&H diners Saratoga Inn and Adirondack Lounge were still sitting next to the power plant in the company with a D&H heavy weight baggage and a couple of ex-PRR coaches (in addition to the four locomotives). Not sure who owns the D&H cars (its not the M&H) but I believe the coaches are owns by GNERF(?) -- I may have the acronym wrong, I believe its the same group the owns the Mexican 4-8-4 in New Hope.

While the D&H cars may have "escaped" GCT and the scrapper after the fire, in my opinion that was only a stay of execution -- both cars sustained substantial fire damage and seem to be a lost cause (again, IMHO).

While I'm thrilled that it seems like the M&H has finally come to its senses and decided to send some of this stuff to better homes, I can't but help wondering what will happen with the NYC U25B and RS-3....

I have an agent for one of the pieces in that Colonie "mess" sitting in my living room now. He's trying to expedite the shipment of the ex-WM FA to West Virginia for further preservation, but they're running into some dicey problems. Supposedly, the WMRHS (Union Bridge, Md.) paid a rather large sum of money in 1999 to restore the rail connection so that the 302 (and any other pieces, if so desired) could depart the property. Supposedly, this check was cashed, but said work has not been performed. My friend is in the process of following up on this situation.

To that end, he's asking if anyone up there knows of any traffic inbound or outbound to the sidings at the adjacent Watervliet Arsenal. If said traffic exists, it will help make the case for a "Plan B" approach to this situation.

I never get down that way, but ask on the D&H Yahoo list, and I think you will get an answer about the track connection. I know the Arsenal shipped out its last 44-tonner about three years ago on a flatcar, but I don't know if the rail connection still exists.

active line has a switch.

The locos are all hammered. but the electric should surely
be rescued.

Simple mindless vandalism. To go there is very
depressing.

Was this money paid to CP or the M&H Chapter? The tracks next to the FA is active rail...in use all the time.

If that's the case and Albany still owns the Alco's particularly the RS-3, do this people want to sale this equipment? We have a potential new home for the Alco RS-3's from this location and would be willing to work with others to have switch or track work returned or rehabilitated to support the removal of sed equipment. Any information on contact or proper ownership of the Alco RS-3's at this sight would be welcomed.

Our group is looking for Alco RS-1's RS-2's Or RS-3's for preservation and restoration to operation. Equipment having rollers key to movement and ease in preservation, though friction bearings also considered. Look forward to any information that may be available on these "Alco's in the Rough".
